What is the best place to store photos?

Sorry for the lack of updates recently! Actually I've been planning to write a post on my brainwashing sessions with Lil' C b4 school but I've been stuck on tweaking my food blog!! Even though I have migrated the posts over, the photos are still pointing to the blogger 'cos previously I uploaded all my photos to blogger. Since I plan to delete my blogspot one, I have to move all my > 150 photos somewhere!!!! Aaaaaaargh!!!! Help!!!

Right now, I can't decide where to upload my photos. Just wondering, those of you on your own domain, do u upload ur photos to ur domain server or do u use Flickr or Photobucket? Flickr is very nice now because I have a free pro account after they migrated from Yahoo photos to Flickr but it's going to expire soon. So I have to decide whether to pay to renew it or use their free one with some limitations or use Photobucket. Advice, anyone?

i never thought about that. all my photos are uploaded to my hosting server. i think that is dangerous in case of the company closed down or if i wanted to migrate to another hosting company. then i will probably have a hard time transferring the pictures. probably a third party photo sharing would be better this way. i use photobucket to store my ebay pictures, no complain about them.

whoisbaby: Ya, that's why I want to use 3rd party 'cos if I decide to chg hosting, dun want to move everything again plus it does take up server space. I'm using photobucket for my JMR blog now but all my food photos are in Flickr due to migration from Yahoo photos. Thinking of just using only one.

hmm...ya woh, if on my own domain, if i migrate then troublesome lorr...but then again, u can always create back the same folder, then ftp back all the files, shouldn't be a problem.

so far i use my own domain, it's easier..cause i realise sometimes if u host other place, it's a bit slow to load the pic up

I am in the same hunt- that is how I found your blog  I’ve seen Flickr, Webshots, Pixamo, and Photobucket recommended. I already know Flickr isn’t for me- I don’t want that big of a thing, especially with Flickr in the news lately! Photobucket seems like plain photo hosting to me- I want something a little more! Pixamo seems interesting- they have some new tagging thing that I haven’t gotten to test out yet- I don’t know much about Webshots at all. Have you tried any other services?

Hi Blur Mommy,

I've been using Flickr for some two years now, before the Yahoo photos shut down. Yes, must pay and pay tho'! But it's got less glitches than when it was newer on the market, and I like the organizational features. It's also a great platform, besides the blogging world, to meet people with similar interests, as you can join any of the Flickr groups at the mere click of a button, or start one yourself.

I still have some old pictures in Photobucket, but after Flickr, I've just stuck to one, so it's less confusing for me!

Hope this helps. And it's nice of you to come by! I'll be visiting you again! =)
