What to feed a toddler?

Lil' C is a little picky about food. Of course, when it's snack time, she eats a lot but when it comes to mealtime, she doesn't really eat much, a fact that kinda bugs me. She hasn't gain weight in a long time. So I am always trying to figure out what kind of food to make for her so that she will eat more.

I also find that if I present food in an attractive way, she will also eat more. I'm not a very creative person. So it's been a challenge for me *sigh*

Here's my attempt at making a simple egg sandwich more attractive. :p Served together with carrot sticks & dip & cheese.

Verdict: she loves it 'cos of the 2 cute duckies or are they chicks?? Not quite sure but as long as she eats them, it doesn't matter! : -) I guess that means I better stock up on cute cookie cutters!!

So what do u mommies feed your toddler? Can share-share ar?? : )

Aiyoo! That looks so good I oso want to eat. Don't ask me. I'm a lazy mum. I feed my kids cookies and biscuits for breakfast with their milk. If they don't want vegetables, I give them fruits instead or sometimes I hide the vegetables in their omellete or porridge.

The duck shaped egg sandwich is soooo cute. How did u shape them? With a mould?

My elder boy is also very fussy with his food. I think your attempt to beautify her meal is a good effort. The chicks are really lovely. I would be too lazy to do all these, but I think I should start doing it also since he is getting thinner now.

Health freak mommy: tq :p For the duckies, I just use the large cookie cutter to cut them out.

janice: tq! When I see my girl not gaining any weight, I get a litte worried. So have to try harder to get her to eat.

eastcoastlife: thks! The time is all worth it when she enjoys the food....: )

you are very creative with her food. i know what u mean, they get bored easily with regular "shaped" food. can use the cookie shaper for rice or not?

That's one thing my kids will never see from me -- creative meals. My policy is 'eat or starve". Hahahah. But my kids also survivors. They will find their own food.
I think Anggie's Journal just passed you the "Rockin Girl Blogger" badge. I also pass it on to you.

Where my kids were so 'ho-miah'. I thought I made an effort then but looking at this now....I was a lazy mum.
Thumbs up to you.

BP: thks!

whoisbaby: For rice, it's better to use sushi mold or maybe ice cube mold. I think it will be hard to cut rice with cookie cutter.

lian: Wah, ur kids so good!! I tried the eat or starve strategy but I dun like to see her not getting any weight so no choicelor..

mommy to chumsy: TQ TQ! :p

joanne: Hmm...Winnie the Pooh dun have wor, butterfly can ar??? hehe... thks for dropping by!

judy: This one very easy, not much effort needed mah : ) This is where my tons of kitchen gadgets come in handy. Actually I can't remember when I bought this cutter :) Good excuse to buy more cute molds & cutters hor?

I can fully understand how you feel. It's so tiring having to think everyday how to decorate my son's meals to make him eat more.

That;s a lovely sandwich you make. I was wondering if you have tried giving pasta to Lil C. I usually uss the penne pasta so that the little ones can easily pick and feed themselves. Or how about using potatoes, cutting into strips, shredded carrots, mixed in some egss, some flour and make into some potato patties. It makes a good meal and they can easily handle and eat.

Blur Mommy said...

chen: Thks!

harimau: Thks! Yes, I do give her pasta. She likes Mac & cheese. Great idea on the potato patties. Will have to try that out. Thanks for the idea!
