Potty-Trained...Finally!!

After a couple of accidents and lots of running to the bathroom, I think *cross my fingers* we are finally potty-trained! Why only potty-train her at 31 mths? 'cos I'm a very lazy mommy!!! : P

Actually, I've had her poopy-trained at 18 mths. That was very easy & took only 2 days. The secret: books!! Lil' C loves to read so I bribe her into the toilet with books & she would sit on the toilet for a long time with a whole stack of books.

But I have been dragging my feet on pee-pee training simply because I hate going to public toilets!! During my growing up years, I travel a lot between Singapore & Malaysia on the night bus & the places that the buses used to stop for toilet stops leave much to be desired. That's why from then on, I have public toilet phobia, especially in unknown places. Since Lil' C & I go out a lot to storytimes or other activites, it was much easier for me to change her diaper than to bring her to the public toilet every couple of hours.

So why am I finally doing it? It's because I want to enrol her in a once-a-week Chinese playschool in Sep and their requirement is ALL CHILDREN MUST BE POTTY-TRAINED. *sigh* No choice lor! Have to get over my phobia and do the inevitable.........

It is such a great feeling, isn't it. Hard to describe but I am sure all mothers can relate to this feeling. Funny but it's like winning lottery! Hahaha. Well done to your toddler.

good work lil C ... i dislike bringing my kids to public toilets too cos it utterly disgusting ... in most places i must say .. for me i dun really like it as well. i hate the sight of it. yucks. anyway i'd like to recommend u to this portable potty that i have been using since my girl was 18 mths and am still using called the Tommy Tippee potty .. really good and handy. You can get in any mothercare ... mothercare is selling their own brand as well but its pricier. its a great thing. :)

hehe guess the school encouraged you to potty trained lil c. congrats on your success. my boy is doing big business in the potty but not in the toilet. i tried to carry him over the toilet, and he yelled/screamed. guess it means no public toilet for us. i did think about getting a portable potty to place in the car if we need to use it.

mummy to qiqi: is it a requirement in Msia preschool too?

mummy to chumsy: wow, 3 mths..that's very early. Ur mum's very gd! I dun think I could have done it. : )

Anna: I use the kids toilet seat the I put over our normal toilet. So it's easier to adapt to public toilet. Maybe u can try one of those too. Target has some cute ones.

beelee: Thks! Good luck on ur potty training : ) Thanks for dropping by.

Healy: I use the baby ones that fit over the normal toilet. So no need to wash mah! Very lazy hor?? :P

mott: welcome, welcome!! I think all mums are entitled to be blur-blur after dealing with our little ones all day, right?? :p Do drop by often ya?

That is a good news!! ENjoy now that she is potty trained. It's much easier now at home but I understand the part about using public toilet :)

Which chinese playgroup are you going to??

anggie: Mine doesn't like the potty either. She prefers using the baby seat that u put over the regular toilet. As for which method, it's better to try out different methods to see which works better for ur child. Eg: Some use the reward system, I use books.

jean: ya, I really dun enjoy the public toilet part but I guess I have to get used to it. I'm in Seattle & they have an Asian school that I'm planning to put her in for once a week.

I'm even lazier than you. I skip the potty and go straight to the adults toilet. Hehe. And I really, really hate taking kids to the public toilets too. The other day, I got so scared because I saw a few unsavoury characters just outside the toilet making handphone calls to each other. I hung on to my handbag and kid for dear life and got out of the toilet as fast as I could.

Congrats!
I have been dreading the pee-pee potty training too even it's easier for boys. The thing is, Darrius can't really stand properly when I wanted him to and he can't 'shoot' yet... so me, the other lazy mommy also just wrap the diaper and let it be... hehehe

MG: Psst.... I also use those kids potty that I put over the adult toilet :P No need to wash! hehehe..

Angeleyes: Glad to know I'm not the only one dilly-dallying the potty training....hehehe.
