Red Bean + Little Girl = Fun!

What do u do when u have a bored toddler who doesn't want to play with her toys??

Give her some a spoon, a bowl, a cup & some red beans!!

Having fun scooping red beans from the bowl to cup with a spoon. When she's got everything in the cup, have her pour it back into the bowl. Very helpful in developing fine motor skills & good practice for feeding herself during mealtime

And just when u thought that's the end of the game, she surprises u by pouring everything out & started jumping on them as if it's a trampoline. Since my floor's pretty safe, she's allowed to continue ....... (edit to add: pls dun do this on a tile floor or any smooth surface 'cos it might be slippery! I have a thick carpet on a wood floor, so it's not so slippery but even she falls, it doesn't hurt. )

And then she makes this

and said "Mommy, I made a flower for u" and that melts ur heart.......

The fun continues with even more shapes & even a sandcastle.

And when the game finally ends, we clean up by counting the beans....... Who knew that red beans could be used in so many other ways besides making red bean soup!! : )

Note: When playing with beans, do watch them very carefully to make sure they dun stuff them down their mouth or nose or any other body parts!! : P

Reminds me of the red bean (ang chee) we used to play as kids whereby we use our little finger to hit one bean with the other.

Is this the red bean as in 'ang tau'? So, after playing can cook ang tau chui. :P

My gals wld love doing this too but i hate cleaning up the mess after they have fun with the beans.
I once gave them uncooked colourful spiral pastas to play with and my, they strewed them everywhere in the house and broke the pastas into bits!

health freak mommy: ya, ya must limit them to a small place to play otherwise very hard to clean up. : )
